Man Steals Taxi At SFSU And Leads Police On High-Speed Chase
SAN FRANCISCO (CBS SF) -- San Francisco police were looking for a suspect who stole a taxi and led police on a high-speed chase through several cities early Friday morning.
The chase reached speeds in excess of 100 mph.
The Ford Escape taxi was parked near the San Francisco State University campus at Denslowe and Banbury Drives around 1:15 a.m. when the driver got out to help a sick passenger.
Police said the suspect was able to steal the SUV because the driver left the keys inside.

The vehicle's GPS tracking system helped in the search. The chase ensued after police spotted the cab on 4th and King Streets in San Francisco around 2 a.m. The pursuit went as far as Highway 1 in Pacifica and ended back at SFSU.
Police said the suspect ditched the cab and ran onto the campus. A witness said the man was dressed in black with a black hood.
A taxi dispatcher told KPIX 5 there is a video camera inside, so police will have a good look at the suspect's face.
Investigators were still searching for the suspect and questioning people on campus Friday morning.
No one was injured during the pursuit, but the cab hit property near SFSU causing minor damage.
According to the taxi's meter, the ride would have cost $174.
