Search For 33-Year-Old Concord Man Missing For A Week

CONCORD (BCN) -- Police and family members of a man who went missing from Concord last week are asking for the public's help in locating him.

Brian Erb, 33, was reported missing on Nov. 10 by family members who said he voluntarily left his home that day without notifying family, friends or his employer, the Back Forty Texas BBQ restaurant in Pleasant Hill, Concord police Lt. David Hughes said.

Erb, who is married with two daughters, ages 2 and 6, is the catering manager at Back Forty Texas BBQ, according to his father, Jeff, the restaurant's owner.

He took clothing, money and camping equipment, including an ice chest and sleeping bag with him, Jeff Erb said.

Jeff Erb said his son is an avid outdoorsman who goes camping and dirt biking five or six times a year.

"We have checked all his favorite campgrounds...and we're coming up empty," he said.

Police believe Brian Erb might have gone to the Big Sur area and have notified authorities there to keep an eye out for him.

Jeff Erb said it is not like his son to go off by himself, especially without notifying family and friends.

"He's not a loner. He's gone by himself right now, that's what it appears, but that's not his character," Erb said. "He likes being with his buddies."

Erb said he believes his son may in fact be with a friend, and "the friend doesn't realize how much the family is hurting by not knowing whether he's OK or not. That's the tough part, not knowing if he's been harmed or what."

Investigators do not suspect foul play in his disappearance but are actively searching for him, Hughes said.

"He's a father of two beautiful girls," Erb said. "We all want him back."

Erb and the truck he left in have been entered into a missing persons database, and Concord police will be notified if he or the vehicle are contacted by law enforcement personnel.

Erb is a white man who is 5 feet 10 inches tall, weighs about 185 pounds, and has brown hair and hazel eyes.

The truck is a dark blue, four-door 2004 Ford F-350 with California license plate No. 7P34909. It has tinted windows, a long bed, round lights on the front bumper, and a "Fox Motorcycles" sticker on the back window.

Anyone with information about Erb's whereabouts is asked to call Detective Greg Pardella at (925) 603-5922 or (925) 671-3030.

People wishing to remain anonymous can call the Concord police anonymous tip line at (925) 603-5836.
