Seahawks Fans Plotting To Fly Banner Above Candlestick Park Sunday
SAN FRANCISCO (CBS SF) - It appears that Seattle Seahawks fans have found a way to elevate the rivalry with the San Francisco 49ers to new heights with a plan to fly a Seahawks banner over Candlestick Park before the teams' showdown on Sunday.
Seahawks fans, who call themselves the 12th man, have raised $1,800 through the website FundRazr to "fly a plane with a banner attached that reads "GO HAWKS-12" over the stadium 10 minutes before kickoff not just showing San Francicso, but the entire nation that we are the most passionate, the greatest, and the LOUDEST fans in the NFL."
The organizer had sought only $1,300 for the prank, but was discussing on the site the possibility of upgrading to a larger banner after surpassing the original goal and getting contributions from 100 fans. The plot quickly gained support on Seattle fan message boards. The original FundRazr poster, who is listed as California native Cedric Morris, will continue taking donations through Wednesday.
According to the posting, Morris has already lined up a pilot who would circle the 'Stick for 10-15 minutes. The NFC West-leading
Seahawks fans said earlier this year that they purchased a personalized brick to support the Seattle squad which will permanently be placed outside the new Levi's Stadium in Santa Clara.
