Woman Accused Of Stiletto Attack Outside SF Bar; Identity Found Online
SAN FRANCISCO (CBS 5) - A San Francisco restaurant manager has used the power of social media to track down a woman he says bashed his head with her stiletto outside a well-known Marina District eatery.
Online blog postings from the SFist and food blog GrubStreet reported that Matt Meidinger, general manager at Jasper's Corner Tap & Kitchen, claims he was leaving the Balboa Café Saturday after having a drink with friends when a pedestrian accidentally kicked the designer Christian Louboutin shoe of a woman who was apparently removing them on the sidewalk.
According to Meidinger's online account, an associate of the woman then punched the man near the corner of Fillmore St. and Greenwich St., causing Meidinger to step in and attempt to calm the situation.
"I spoke up and said, 'Whoa! Take it easy! Kicking a shoe doesn't equal a punch in the face,'" Meidinger said.
According to Meidinger, the woman then turned on him and cracked him in the head with the heel of the shoe. A fight ensued, during which Meidinger said he was punched and had his phone ripped from his hands as he tried to call 911.
The woman and two friends who were involved in the incident allegedly fled the scene before police arrived.
Meidinger said via twitter that he spent the night in the emergency room following the run-in.
Louboutin's, famous for their red soles, often retail for more than $400.
Meidinger offered a $500 reward for information on the woman, and spread a photo of her online. According to online reports, social media contacts have helped him track down the woman's name, and San Francisco police are now investigating the incident.
