School Bus, Minivan Collide In San Jose
SAN JOSE (CBS SF) - A pregnant woman walked away with only scratches Thursday morning after a crash in San Jose involving her minivan and a school bus carrying four special-needs adults, a California Highway Patrol officer said.
The school bus was traveling west on Moorpark Avenue and was making a left turn onto South Cypress Avenue when it collided with a minivan driven by the woman in the opposite direction, CHP Officer Chris Falkowski said.
The crash was reported at 8:07 a.m., he said.
The woman suffered abrasions to her lower leg and complained of pain, as did a male passenger, Falkowski said. Both were taken to a hospital.
A young boy between 4 and 6 years old was in the minivan but was not injured and was picked up at the scene by a family member, he said.
All four adult special-needs students complained of pain and were transported to Santa Clara Valley Medical Center, he said.
The driver of the school bus also complained of pain but was not transported, Falkowski said.
The bus was on route to pick up more students for post-secondary school classes at the Campbell Community Center, he said.
The cause of the crash was still under investigation. The roadway was cleared by 9:50 a.m., he said.
