Gorgeous Time Lapse Captures Cal's Century-Old Campanile Swallowed By Fog
KPIX 5 Morning Weather Anchor Roberta Gonzales answers the questions you never get to ask on-air.
Q: Hello Roberta! Would you like to see my tribute to the centennial of UC Berkeley's "Campanile" shrouded in wonderful high contrast black & white time lapse clouds? - Philp Loaire
A: Bring it!
Thanks Phil! This is awesome. And to think you did it with a "modest pocket camera." This is a keeper!
And for those unfamiliar with the Campanile, it is the most recognizable building on the University of California at Berkley Campus. Construction was completed 100 years ago but the bells didn't arrive until 1917. It's "real" name is the Sather Tower but, bearing a strong resemblance to Campanile di San Marco in Venice, it is affectionately referred to as "Campanile."
To mark the centennial, Berkeley as put together an excellent website with the full history of the structure. The official birthday will be celebrated October 3rd.
Enjoy!
I would love to hear from you! Please send weather questions, observations and photos to me, Gonzales@kpix.cbs.com and I look forward to hearing from you!
