Santa Rosa Woman Sentenced To 4 Years In Prison For 5th DUI Offense
SANTA ROSA (CBS SF) -- A Santa Rosa woman with four previous DUI convictions was sentenced to four years in prison Monday for her fifth DUI offense, Sonoma County prosecutors said Tuesday.
Lynn Jane Johnston, 62, pleaded no contest in October to driving with a blood-alcohol level of 0.08 percent or more, District Attorney Jill Ravitch said.
Johnston also admitted she had a 2011 felony DUI conviction and served a prison term for that offense, Ravitch said. The four-year prison term was the maximum allowable term, she said.
Sonoma County Superior Court Judge Dana Simonds also suspended Johnston's driver's license for 10 years starting with her release from prison, Ravitch said.
Johnston's blood-alcohol level was 0.15 percent when she was stopped for failing to maintain her lane and driving erratically on Aug. 2, Ravitch said.
Ravitch said she is pleased with the prison sentence because Johnston repeatedly disregarded the law and the safety of others on the road.
