Santa Rosa Traffic Stop For Tinted Windows Leads To 100+ Pounds Of Marijuana
SANTA ROSA (CBS SF) -- An unlicensed driver was pulled over because he had tinted windows on his car in Santa Rosa Sunday morning, leading a California Highway Patrol officer to discover there was over 100 pounds of marijuana in the car, according to the CHP.
CHP Officer B. Wood saw a 2007 Infinity M45 driving south on Stony Point Road near Hearn Avenue and pulled the car over because of its tinted front windows, according to the CHP.
Wood was overwhelmed by the smell of marijuana as he approached the car and saw four large garbage bags in the car filled with it, the CHP said.
After searching the vehicle, Wood found two more bags in the trunk and recovered a total of 105 pounds of pot.
The driver, identified as Mario Humberto Zamora, 27, of Sebastopol, told Wood that the marijuana was not his and he had only been hired to transport it.
Zamora was arrested on suspicion of possession of a controlled substance for sales, transportation for sales and driving without a license, according to the CHP.
