Santa Rosa Teen Arrested After Hash Oil Lab Found In Shed
SANTA ROSA (CBS SF) -- A 15-year-old boy has been arrested on suspicion of making concentrated cannabis in a lab at his Bennett Valley home, a Santa Rosa police sergeant said.
Police found 43 pounds of loose leaf marijuana, seven grams of concentrated cannabis, also known as honey oil, and evidence of a "hash lab" in a shed in the yard at the Rocklin Drive residence in southeast Santa Rosa, Sgt. Michael Chad Heiser said Wednesday.
Police learned about a suspected hash lab around 2 p.m. Friday and placed the residence under surveillance, Heiser said.
The boy, who lives with his mother, was contacted when he went into the residence and was in possession of the concentrated cannabis, Heiser said.
The teen was arrested and booked into juvenile hall for manufacturing a controlled substance, possession of concentrated cannabis and possession of marijuana for sale.
Heiser said police have found as many as six honey oil manufacturing operations so far this year.
A Santa Rosa man was serious burned in an explosion earlier this year when he was making the concentrated cannabis in a bathroom at a Santa Rosa apartment.
Highly flammable butane and leftover marijuana leaves are used to make the sticky honey oil that contains concentrated THC.
