Man Accused Of Stabbing Wife's Classmate At Santa Rosa College
SANTA ROSA (CBS SF) -- A man suspected of stabbing another man who was talking to his wife in Santa Rosa on Tuesday night will be arraigned in Sonoma County Superior Court Thursday on an attempted murder charge.
Miguel Ascencio, 35, of Santa Rosa, allegedly stabbed 39-year-old Oswaldo Fajardo in the abdomen around 9:45 p.m. in the parking lot of the Santa Rosa Junior College's Southwest Center, Santa Rosa police Sgt. David Linscomb said.
Fajardo, also a Santa Rosa resident, was taken to a hospital and was expected to survive, Linscomb said.
Linscomb said Fajardo was talking to Ascencio's wife in the parking lot on Wright Road after class when Ascencio raced up to them in his car, Linscomb said.
Ascencio walked up to Fajardo and stabbed him in the torso then fled in his car, Linscomb said.
Ascencio's wife drove Fajardo in her car to a shopping center in the 700 block of Stony Point Road, where they were met by police and medical personnel, Linscomb said.
Police later found that the tires of Fajardo's car in the parking lot where the attack happened had been punctured, Linscomb said.
Ascencio was arrested at his home on Coffey Lane in Santa Rosa, and was booked into Sonoma County Jail for attempted murder, police said.
He was scheduled to be arraigned at 1:30 p.m. Thursday.
Ascencio and Fajardo were not previously acquainted, and Ascencio was not expected to be at the Southwest Center campus that day, Linscomb said.
