Santa Rosa Injury Crash Leads To DUI Arrest

SANTA ROSA (CBS SF) -- A woman was arrested in Santa Rosa Sunday morning after she allegedly fled the scene of a crash that hospitalized her passenger, police said.

Lianna Giancola, 22, is in custody in Sonoma County Jail for felony DUI and hit-and-run charges after she allegedly crashed on state Highway 12 near Acacia Lane around 1:15 a.m., according to Santa Rosa police.

Giancola fled the scene on foot after the crash, leaving her 19-year-old passenger, Zachary Bressick, injured in the car, according to police. Officers and paramedics removed Bressick from the car and transported him to a local hospital.

Officers found Giancola when she arrived at Kaiser Hospital at 2:45 a.m. to seek treatment for minor injures sustained in the crash.

Investigators said that Giancola was driving west on Highway 12 in her 2005 Porsche 911 when she lost control of the vehicle on a sweeping left turn and struck a traffic signal at the intersection.

She continued driving west for several hundred feet, grazing a light post and finally stopping in a small grove of trees. Investigators determined that Giancola was driving under the influence of alcohol, police said.
