Santa Cruz Pot Smuggling Bust
SANTA CRUZ (KCBS)—Three Los Angeles men and one man from Arizona were arrested on Saturday for allegedly smuggling ashore 1,200 pounds of marijuana, worth an estimated $2.1 million street value, on the northern Santa Cruz coast, authorities said.
"We got a call from Santa Cruz County Communications to inform us that there was a beach sting north of Santa Cruz and state troopers were in pursuit of four males on foot," said Coast Guard spokesman Dax Morfin.

The pursuit took place on the water and along the Shark Tooth Beach, Morfin said. Units from the local narcotics task force, sheriff's deputies, Homeland Security, UC Santa Cruz, the California Highway Patrol, Cal Fire and even a K-9 team from Capitola were involved.
