Santa Cruz Parolee Arrested With A Pound Of Meth
SANTA CRUZ (BCN) -- More than a pound of methamphetamine was seized after police pulled over a motorist on probation in Santa Cruz on Thursday morning, according to the Santa Cruz County Sheriff's Office.
Alan Tinker, 57, was arrested after a deputy stopped his vehicle near the intersection of Emeline Avenue and Lee Street about 11:15 a.m. Thursday, sheriff's officials said.
The deputy recognized the driver as Tinker, a drug offender on probation, and stopped the vehicle. As the deputy began to search the car, Tinker allegedly tried to flee, but was arrested after a brief physical struggle with the deputy, according to the sheriff's office.
Tinker and the deputy were both uninjured during the struggle.
Inside the car, investigators found more than a pound of methamphetamine packaged in half- and quarter-ounce quantities. The drugs have a street value of about $15,000, sheriff's officials said.
Tinker was arrested on suspicion of resisting arrest, transportation and possession of methamphetamine for sales, and probation violation.
