Santa Clara VTA To Debut Amenity-Filled Hybrid Buses
SAN JOSE (CBS SF) - Starting Monday, the Santa Clara Valley Transportation Authority will begin offering riders a different experience on new diesel-electric hybrid buses.
Those who use any of the 20 new coaches for VTA's Express Bus Service will notice high-back seats, free wi-fi, luggage racks, footrests and reading lights.
KCBS' Mike Colgan Reports:
The buses, which will be phased into service through February, are especially suitable for longer commutes, according to the VTA.
The buses will operate on VTA Express lines 102, 103, 120, 121, 122, 182, and 183.
VTA acquired the buses with a federal grant along with Proposition 1B funding.
The agency was scheduled to showcase the fleet Thursday afternoon at its Cerone Operations Division facility at 3990 Zanker Road in San Jose.
