Santa Clara Grand Jury Says School District Overpaid Its Employees Over $1 Million In Last 10 Years
SAN JOSE (KCBS)—A Santa Clara County Civil Grand Gury The Alum Rock has found that the Alum Rock Union School District paid many of its teachers and administrators, including new and short-term employees, more than required by its contracts and rules— a practice that has cost more than $1 million over the last 10 years.

School officials, however, are defending the raises. According to the San Jose Mercury News, they said that the raises were necessary to track and retain talented employees during at time of high turnover.
The grand jury recommends that Alum Rock bring pay practices with union contracts and better define how to reward managers for longevity.
