Sand Spill On Bay Bridge Slows Traffic Out Of San Francisco
SAN FRANCISCO (CBS SF) - A sand spill on the lower deck of the Bay Bridge has slowed eastbound traffic coming out of San Francisco Wednesday morning, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The spill was reported at 6:30 a.m. inside the tunnel. Initial reports indicated that a layer of sand was covering all of the eastbound lanes.
However, CHP Officer Scott Cakebread said around 7:45 a.m. that the spill was only affecting the three right lanes.
Sweepers were called in for cleanup, and the lanes reopened around 8 a.m.
The truck that spilled the sand did not stop, and it is unclear whether the driver knew about the spill, Cakebread said. The truck has not been located.
