Elderly San Rafael Man Arrested for Shooting Christmas Party Guest
SAN RAFAEL (CBS SF) -- A holiday party in San Rafael turned violent early Sunday morning as a 71-year-old San Rafael man was arrested for shooting a guest.
Police received calls at 1:30 a.m. about shots fired in the 100 block of C Street.
Responding officers searching the area were approached by a man limping down the street saying he had been shot.
Paramedics were called to tend to the man, who had a wound in his left foot.
The man told investigators there had been an altercation at a Christmas party at a friend's house and that David Michael Simonini had pushed a woman down onto a couch and then pointed a gun at him, threatening to shoot unless he left.
The victim went to the porch of the house with his wife, where Simonini shot him in the foot, police said.
"The suspect approached him, told him to get out of his house or he was going to shoot him," said Sgt. Justin Graham of the San Rafael Police Dept. "He said, 'You're not going to shoot me.' And the suspect fires into his left foot, causing injury to his left foot."
Police arrested Simonini and charged him with assault with a firearm, making criminal threats, and domestic violence. Marin County Jail records show Simonini is out of jail on $50,000 bail.
Simonini did not return emails or text messages to KPIX 5.
