San Mateo Police Detonate Volatile Materials Stored In Home
SAN MATEO (CBS SF) -- Police and fire officials detonated volatile materials found stored in a San Mateo home Wednesday, police said.
Around 4:30 p.m., a resident reported finding volatile materials stored in their home in the 400 block of Parrott Drive.
Police concluded that the materials were not stable to move without the potential of explosion and evacuated the block while warning other residents to shelter in place.
The San Mateo County Sheriff's Bomb Squad also arrived, and made a controlled detonation of the material. There was a loud explosion, but no one was injured, according to police.
Shortly after 8:30 p.m., police alerted residents that the materials had been disposed of. Police have not yet revealed the exact nature of the volatile materials.
