San Mateo Officials Warn Of Portola Valley Mountain Lion Sighting

PORTOLA VALLEY (CBS SF) - A mountain lion was spotted Thursday morning in Portola Valley, San Mateo County officials said.

It was seen at about 6:40 a.m. at 1245 Los Trancos Road.

Residents are advised not to hike or jog when mountain lions are most active at dawn, dusk or night. They should also keep an eye on small children, according to officials.

Anyone who encounters a mountain lion should pick up small children, face the animal, make noise, and try to look bigger by waving the arms and throwing rocks.
