San Mateo County Allowing Write-In Candidates For Board Of Supervisors Spot

SAN MATEO (BCN) -- San Mateo County will open up this May's ballot to write-in candidates for a Board of Supervisors position on Monday, according to San Mateo County election officials.

Election hopefuls will have until 5 p.m. on April 19 to file nomination papers and gather signatures to be considered for the office of district one supervisor, chief elections officer Mark Church said in a statement.

The write-in candidates will be placed on the local May 3 ballot.

Those interested in becoming write-in candidates will first have to file a statement, detailing their personal information and desired position, Church said.

Potential write-in contenders will then have to gather 20 community signatures to substantiate their candidacy, according to Church.

Write-in candidates must be registered voters residing in the district for which they are seeking office, Church added.

Nomination documents can be obtained from the election's office, located at 40 Tower Road in San Mateo.
