San Mateo Agency Issues Urgent Call For Holiday Toy Donations
SAN MATEO (KCBS) - A San Mateo social services agency has issued an urgent call to the community for help in fulfilling the demand for toy donations for needy kids.
A week before Christmas, The Samaritan House reported that donations were down significantly.
KCBS' Tim Ryan Reports:
"We have 2,100 children that we're worried about getting enough toys for," warned agency spokesperson Nancy Carothers. "The donations are down 40% to 50% and the need, the number of low income families that are signed up this year, is 50% more."
"We've actually come to the conclusion that we need more girl items than boys," added Samaritan House's holiday program coordinator, Tracy McGeorge. "Our donations are down and we just want every kid to have a gift for Christmas."
"We're really hoping the community can rally to our support and help us make sure every child has a good Christmas," Carothers summed it all up.
Anyone interested in making a donation was encouraged to visit the agency's website.
