San Leandro Walmart Sex Attack Suspect Arraigned
SAN LEANDRO (AP) -- Prosecutors have charged a 29-year-old San Leandro man with sexually assaulting an 8-year-old girl who was attacked while shopping with her family at a Walmart store.
The Oakland Tribune reported that Carlyle Villazon was arraigned on Tuesday on six felony counts, including aggravated sexual assault of a child, lewd acts on a child and false imprisonment.
He did not enter a plea.
Police said Villazon attacked the girl at a San Leandro Walmart around 7 p.m. Friday when she left her mother's side to look for her brother.
The girl apparently returned crying and said a man had touched her inappropriately.
Police say Villazon tried to flee the store when he was spotted by the girl's mother, but was apprehended by two customers.
