San Leandro Man Arrested In Fatal Stabbing Of SJ Woman

SAN LEANDRO (BCN) - A 26-year-old San Leandro man was arrested in connection with the fatal stabbing of a woman in San Jose on Thursday, a police spokesman said.

Officers arrested David Jerome Shackelford on suspicion of killing  27-year-old Melanie Ashley Dunn, San Jose police Sgt. Jason Dwyer said.

Police responded to a disturbance call at about 5:20 a.m. Thursday at a home in the 1100 block of Terilyn Avenue near U.S. Highway 101 and found Dunn suffering from stab wounds.

Shackelford initially fled on foot, but officers tracked him down in the area of Story Road and Highway 101 and took him into custody without incident.

Dunn was taken to San Jose Regional Medical Center where she died from her injuries.
