San Jose State Names La Kose Women's Basketball Coach
SAN JOSE (CBS / AP) ― San Jose State has hired Tim La Kose as its new women's basketball coach.
La Kose agreed to a five-year contract after spending the past 10 years coaching Cal State Bakersfield.
He replaces Pam DeCosta, who resigned last month after four seasons. The Spartans finished this past season with a 2-27 record and came in last place in the WAC. They did not qualify for the conference tournament and finished 13-106 during DeCosta's tenure.
La Kose's teams won 20 or more games in a season seven times, competed in six NCAA Division II tournaments and two NCAA Division I Women's Basketball Invitationals (WBI).
He also coached at California Lutheran and owns a 347-152 career record in 18 seasons as a college coach.
