San Jose Soldier Killed In Afghanistan
SAN JOSE (CBS SF/AP) -- A memorial service will be held Wednesday at Joint Base Lewis-McChord in Washington for a San Jose soldier who was killed in Afghanistan.
The Army said 25-year-old 2nd Lt. Travis A. Morgado died May 23 of injuries from a roadside bomb.
He was assigned to the 5th Battalion, 20th Infantry Regiment, 3rd Stryker Brigade Combat Team, 2nd Infantry Division. His unit deployed in December to Afghanistan. It was Morgado's first deployment.
Morgado entered the Army in November 2010, and was commissioned as a second lieutenant through the Officer Candidate School in May 2011.
