San Jose School Vice Principal Accused Of Sexually Assaulting Minor
SAN JOSE (CBS SF) -- A vice principal at a San Jose high school was arrested Wednesday on suspicion of sexually assaulting a minor, according to police.
Joseph Reghitto, 32, was arrested at Leland High School, located at 6777 Camden Ave., after police were notified of a sexual assault that allegedly occurred in the South San Jose area involving the vice principal and a minor in September 2011, according to San Jose police.
Reghitto was booked into the Santa Clara County jail on suspicion of having unlawful sexual contact with a minor, police said.
Leland High School's website lists Reghitto as an assistant principal and 10th grade activities adviser.
San Jose Unified School District spokeswoman Karen Fuqua said, "this is an alleged incident and the safety of our students is a priority for us."
The district spokeswoman said school officials are working with police and that Leland High classes have returned to normal since Wednesday's arrest.
Retired principals and district office staff have been called in to support the high school's administration following the arrest, Fuqua said.
