San Jose Police Officer Who Posted Threatening Tweets No Longer On Force
SAN JOSE (CBS/AP) — A San Jose officer suspended for posting inflammatory comments on social media that were critical of vocal and sometime-violent police abuse demonstrations is no longer on the force.
A San Jose Police spokesman confirmed Thursday that Phillip White no longer works for the department, but declined to say if he was fired or resigned. White didn't return a phone call.
White posted several comments to his Twitter account in December saying he would kill any anti-police protesters who threatened his family. He appeared to challenge demonstrators to confront him. The department suspended him, and community activists demanded his dismissal. Prosecutors investigated but declined to file criminal charges.
The San Jose Mercury News first reported White's departure from the department.
