San Jose Officials Confident On Ballpark Plans After MLB Meeting
SAN JOSE (KCBS) - After a meeting with Major League Baseball officials, local leaders in San Jose say they're not concerned about rumors of a new baseball stadium proposal coming out of Oakland.
Published reports suggest that members of a Major League Baseball committee met quietly with officials from both cities last week, with the future home of the Athletics, of course, being the topic of conversation.
The committee, which was researching the future home of the A's, wanted to get an update on the cities' respective stadium plans. In Oakland, city officials reportedly pitched a new plan - a waterfront ballpark on the Port of Oakland's Howard Terminal, a site once thought to be unworkable.
Both San Jose Mayor Chuck Reed and A's co-owner Lew Wolff dismissed the terminal plan, going on the record as saying they've looked at the terminal's site and believe it simply isn't feasible as a ballpark site.

Oakland waterfront rumors aside, San Jose still had one notable issue hanging over its head. Specifically, state officials are investigating whether the city illegally moved funds from its now-defunct Redevelopment Agency to purchase land for a downtown San Jose ballpark.
