San Jose Officials Call For Cap On Pot Clubs
SAN JOSE (KCBS) – A group of San Jose city council members is calling for a cap on the number of pot clubs in the city.
The proposal would roll back the number of marijuana dispensaries from around 100 to just 10 and shut down all others operating in the city.
The group of four city council members said the reason is because the businesses have gotten out of control, leading to an increase in crime and draining city services.

Councilman Sam Liccardo previously told KCBS that the problem of pot clubs proliferating is not unique to San Jose.
"The reason why so many cities and counties are struggling with the problem of how to regulate marijuana dispensaries is because the federal government has really abdicated the responsibility here," Liccardo said.
San Jose's Rules Committee will hear the proposal on Wednesday.
Pot club operators have complained that they are getting mixed messages from the city as just last week, the city began taxing marijuana sales, a step that many operators thought would legitimize their businesses.
