San Jose Man Accused Of Fatally Hitting Motorcyclist While Intoxicated
SAN JOSE (CBS SF) -- A San Jose man is out on bail after allegedly fatally striking a motorcyclist while driving under the influence in San Jose Friday night, a police spokesman said.
Kavit Nand, 23, was arrested on suspicion of vehicular manslaughter, DUI, and hit-and-run for allegedly striking and killing 60-year-old motorcyclist Noel Reynoso, of Santa Clara, around 9:45 p.m., San Jose police Officer Albert Morales.
The fatal accident in the 1400 block of South White Road occurred when a Lexus believed to be driven by Nand was heading north on White Road, crossed into the southbound lane and struck Reynoso on his motorcycle.
Emergency responders found Reynoso on the ground near the accident and pronounced him dead at the scene.
Nand was taken to a hospital for minor injuries and then taken to Santa Clara County jail.
He later posted $150,000 bail, Morales said.
