San Jose Earthquakes Fall To Kansas City Wizards 4-1
KANSAS CITY (AP) - Chris Wondolowski edged into the league scoring lead, but Birahim Diop's first MLS hat trick overshadowed Wondolowski's single goal and helped the Kansas City Wizards beat the San Jose Earthquakes 4-1 on Saturday night.
Wondolowski's 70th-minute goal was his 18th of the season for the Earthquakes (13-10-7), extending his club record and moving him one ahead of Los Angeles' Edson Buddle. He has scored San Jose's last 10 goals, also extending his own record.
The Galaxy have one game remaining, hosting FC Dallas on Sunday night. San Jose, the eighth overall seed, will face the New York Red Bulls in the first round of the playoffs.
The Wizards' victory closed out a three-year stay at CommunityAmerica Ballpark, a minor league baseball venue. Kansas City (11-13-6), which was eliminated from playoff contention before Saturday night's regular-season finale, will move into a soccer-specific stadium next year.
Diop put the Wizards up 1-0 in the 36th minute, taking a long pass from Jonathan Leathers just inside the area and heading the ball over onrushing keeper Jon Busch. He made it 2-0 with a diving header in the 60th minute, after Roger Espinoza's cross deflected off defender Ramiro Corrales.

After Wondolowski pulled San Jose within a goal, Diop answered in the 76th with a left-footed blast from 22 yards to make it 3-1. San Jose's Eduardo was charged with an own goal in second-half stoppage time.
