San Jose Demands More From PG&E On Pipeline Risks
SAN JOSE (KCBS) - Pacific Gas and Electric has been slow in detailing the risks posed by its natural gas pipelines in the city, San Jose Mayor Chuck Reed said Friday.
Data provided to the city so far does not include crucial information about the location and condition of shutoff valves, or their frequency of inspection.
"They're cooperative, but we still need more information," Reed said.
KCBS Mike Colgan Reporting:
PG&E has scheduled a meeting with San Jose officials for the week of Oct. 4 to address the mayor's concerns, said PG&E spokesman Joe Mollica.
"We're working to provide our government partners and the officials the information that they're seeking," he said.
Reaching out to every local government in Northern California was a process that "may take a while unfortunately," Mollica said.
East Palo Alto, San Carlos and Stanford University have also complained about the pace of PG&E's disclosure.
