San Jose Crime Spree Suspect Appears In Court
SAN JOSE (CBS / AP) -- A 26-year-old San Jose man charged in connection with a series of violent crimes last week, including opening fire on a police officer, remains in custody after making his first court appearance.
Jonathan Wilbanks appeared in court Wednesday, where he was charged with attempted murder of a peace officer, murder with special circumstances, four counts of second-degree robbery, assault with a firearm on an officer and receiving a stolen vehicle.
Wilbanks did not enter a plea, and was ordered to return to court on Dec. 5. He is being held without bail.
Authorities say last Friday the 26-year-old Wilbanks was one of two men who conducted four armed robberies, fatally shot one man during what's believed to be a carjacking attempt, and was involved in a gunfight with officers.
Police are still looking for his alleged accomplice.
