San Jose Couple Wins $289,000 State Lottery Jackpot
SAN JOSE (CBS SF) -- A San Jose woman who with her husband won a $289,471 state lottery jackpot Sunday said she thought it was another one of his pranks when he started screaming they had won, lottery officials said.
"I didn't believe him, he does this all the time," said Marina Olegue about her spouse, who was not being named, according to a California Lottery announcement Wednesday.
Once Olegue was convinced they had won, they yelled so loudly that a neighbor 10 houses away came to their home to ask what happened, lottery officials said.
The couple bought their winning ticket at a 7-Eleven at 2440 Alamden Expressway in San Jose.
To win a Fantasy Five jackpot, a player must choose five numbers from 1 to 39 and then match all of the five drawn by lottery officials.
The Olegues selected 32, 25, 1, 20 and 13.
She said they would focus first on using some of the prize money to pay off their car loans.
