San Jose Company Opens One of the "Greenest" Facilities on Earth
A Silicon Valley tech company officially opened the doors to a new "green" facility in North San Jose Thursday. Now, Brocade's new data center is one of the most energy efficient buildings on the planet.
The Brocade ribbon cutting ceremony looked more like Oscar night, somewhat out of step for casual Silicon Valley.
"I've got to tell you, it looks like an East Coast wedding in here, it's just beautiful," said Company C.E.O. Mike Klayko.

He says their new headquarters combines eight data centers into one, with high efficiency solar panels on the roof of the building.
"I think we're the only data center that can actually produce enough electricity to run our center entirely on photovoltaic arrays," said Klayko.
It's estimated that buildings create up to 40 percent of the greenhouse gas emissions in the U.S., and Congresswoman Zoe Lofgren says this green building is important.
"Not just for this company, because it's a big success for them, but it's also an example of what companies can do to cut their energy costs substantially, which is important not just for them, but for the whole community," said Lofgren.
The $278 million facility will be home to some 2,500 Brocade employees, 900 of which were added in the past year.
