San Francisco's Market Street Revitalization Efforts Continue With Pop-Ups
SAN FRANCISCO (KCBS) – San Francisco is putting together a series of events over the next month aimed at giving residents a chance to see what a revitalized Market Street could be like in the future.
"This is a once in a generation opportunity to see what we want to do to improve Market Street," said Rachel Gordon with the San Francisco Department of Public Works.
KCBS' Barbara Taylor Reports:
Trying to breath new life into Market Street, especially Mid-Market, the Department of Public Works will be holding pop-up events along the corridor.
"This is a major boulevard in San Francisco. 250,000 people go down this street everyday," said Gordon.
She said the Better Market Street project will include temporary displays, an Art Walk planned at 6th and Market, food events at the FoodLab at A Temporary Offering, which is located at the Renoir Hotel and sidewalk pop-ups to keep the public's interest as they pass by.
"It's really a temporary booth that's set up where there are going to be plans there and ideas on how you can improve Market Street," Gordon said. "There is going to be staff there to really get your ideas as well."
The pop-ups begin on Friday, September 28 and will run every Friday through October at different locations on Market Street.
