San Francisco Supervisor Gets Chuckle From Homeless Man Using Cellphone
SAN FRANCISCO (CBS SF) - A San Francisco supervisor is getting criticism over her social media posting which seems to make fun of a homeless man's cellphone use.
District 10 Supervisor Malia Cohen posted on her Facebook account Saturday a picture of a homeless man speaking on a cellphone with a comment saying the image "kind of made me laugh."
The posting comes just weeks after the state Public Utilities Commission expanded the Lifeline service, adding cellphones to its free landline service for seniors, the poor and homeless.
According to SFist, Cohen's post created some backlash in the comments thread, including responses such as 'What is funny about being homeless?' and 'Poor taste.'
Int the same thread, Cohen clarified her comments, stating, "It's the irony of the image that made [me] chuckle, not the fact that the man could be homeless," according to SFist.
The post has since been removed from Cohen's Facebook page.
