San Francisco Robber Holds Up Cow Hollow Bank With Pizza Box
SAN FRANCISCO (BCN) - A man was arrested Wednesday on suspicion of robbing a bank in San Francisco's Cow Hollow neighborhood earlier this week.
Lawrence Swick, 29, was arrested in connection with the robbery of a Comerica Bank at 2001 Union St. on Monday, police said.
During the robbery, a man went into the bank holding a pizza box. Inside the box was a note he gave to the teller demanding that she put cash in the box, according to police.
The teller complied, handing over an undisclosed amount of cash, and the suspect fled. Officers responded and did not find the suspect but recovered the box and demand note, which had been discarded nearby, police said.
Investigators were able to identify Swick as the suspect through the evidence and based on his prior contacts with officers from the department's Tenderloin station.
Armed with a photo of Swick, officers searched the streets of the Tenderloin and residential hotels in the area.
They finally found him Wednesday in a room at one of the hotels, where they recovered evidence linking him to the bank robbery, police said.
Swick was taken into custody and booked into jail on suspicion of bank robbery.
