San Francisco Power Outage Affects 7,000 Homes

SAN FRANCISCO (CBS SF) -- Nearly 7,000 PG&E customers were without power in San Francisco Friday morning, a utility spokeswoman said.

The outage was reported about 7:55 a.m. and was affecting neighborhoods as far north as Laurel Heights and as far south as Haight-Ashbury, PG&E spokeswoman Brittany McKannay said.

Crews were in the area to try to determine the cause of the outage, McKannay said.

There was no estimate as of 8:45 a.m. for when power might be restored to the affected customers, she said.

Another outage left more than 10,200 customers without power on Thursday night in the same area of San Francisco. Power was restored to those customers by about 11:30 p.m.

McKannay said it was not yet clear if the two outages are related.
