San Francisco Power Outage Affects 5,000 Homes
SAN FRANCISCO (CBS SF) -- Power was restored to San Francisco Pacific Gas & Electric customers Friday night after an outage left more than 5,000 in the dark, a utility spokesman said.
PG&E spokesman J.D. Guidi said the outage, which began at 8:28 p.m., originally affected 5,050 customers near Noe Valley.
Service had been restored to all customers by 11:18 p.m., he said.
Crews were still investigating the cause of the outage as of Saturday morning, Guidi said.
This was the second such outage to affect thousands of city customers on Friday.
Friday morning, an outage reported at 12:39 a.m. knocked out power to nearly 6,700 Hayes Valley PG&E customers.
That outage was caused by an underground equipment failure, Guidi said.
Those customers had their power fully restored by 6:30 a.m., he said.
