1 Dead in San Francisco Union Square Shooting
SAN FRANCISCO (CBS SF) -- A man who was shot in San Francisco's Union Square Thursday late Thursday afternoon has died, according to police.
Police have not released the man's identity, but said he was 21.
One person was detained after the shooting which shut down an intersection in the heart of San Francisco's shopping district.
San Francisco police Sgt. Michael Andraychak said officers responded to a shooting on the 100 block of Geary Street at approximately 5:03 p.m.
Investigators said what began as an altercation quickly turned into a shooting.
Officers have detained a second male subject for questioning. No other information was released. Sgt. Andraychak said there was an active and ongoing investigation.

Police closed off the 100 block of Geary St. and the 200 block of Stockton St. The area is where a number of high-end retail stores are located, including Louis Vuitton, Gucci, Bulgari and Chanel.
