San Francisco Police Clear Out Encampment Outside Federal Reserve Building
SAN FRANCISCO (KCBS) — Police cleared out what they called a "homeless camp" in downtown San Francisco Monday morning—the same area where a protest was planned throughout the day.
A police spokesman told KCBS that the operation on Market Street—near the Federal Reserve Building—began sometime after 6:30 a.m. He said about a dozen people were cleared from the area on the south side of Market Street on the sidewalk between Spear and Main Streets.
He said there were no arrests or citations.
The police action came on the same day that a number of activists had planned to hold a protest Monday, according to the Occupy SF website, on the 100th anniversary of the establishment of the Federal Reserve.
