San Francisco Police Ask For Help In Fatal Mission District Shooting
SAN FRANCISCO (CBS SF) -- San Francisco police have released a photo of the victim in a fatal shooting in the city's Mission District on Friday in the hope that someone may come forward with information to help solve the case.
Lorenzo Jimenez, 24, of Sacramento was shot in the head late Friday night in the 3100 block of 16th Street, between Valencia and Guerrero Streets, police said.
Earlier in the night, Jimenez was with several friends in the Double Dutch Bar, where five to 10 other men confronted him. When he left the bar, the group viciously beat him, police said.
Eventually, one of the men pulled out a gun and shot Jimenez. He was transported to San Francisco General Hospital where he died on Saturday.
Because the crime took place in a busy neighborhood on a Friday night, police believe there could be many witnesses who may have seen the incident or the suspects.
Police are asking anyone with information about the shooting to call San Francisco police's homicide detail at (415) 553-1145 or to call the anonymous tip line at (415) 575-4444. People can also send tips by text message to TIP411.
