San Francisco Museum Honors Dr. King
SAN FRANCISCO (KCBS) – The Museum of the African Diaspora in San Francisco is honoring Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. this weekend.
"The weekend focus is about the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King," said Cherie Dyson, who is the Director of Programs with the Museum of the African Diaspora.
KCBS' Margie Shafer Reports:
Krista Humann and her husband brought their two sons to the museum.
"My youngest in preschool, he's learning about, doing artwork and they are teaching him about what Dr. King did," she said. "It's just so positive so we followed it up with a day like this since they know who he is and what his contributions were."
Aisha Brown, who works with kids, said King taught lessons that are still true today.
"We need more people like Dr. King to help teach the kids about standing up for their rights," she said. "What it is to civil rights, what is the importance, what is the meaning."
Many organizations throughout the Bay Area are honoring Dr. King with a day of service.
