San Francisco Muni Driver Charged With Manslaughter In Pedestrian Death
SAN FRANCISCO (CBS/AP) -- A San Francisco Municipal Railway bus driver has been charged with misdemeanor vehicular manslaughter for the death of a pedestrian who was struck in a Castro district crosswalk last summer.
36-year-old Wallace Loggins was driving his empty Muni bus to a new assignment when he ran over 23-year-old Emily Dunn on Aug. 19.
Loggins was released on $10,000 bail after he was arrested and booked on Saturday. His arraignment has been set for Friday.
Loggins was making a left turn when his 40-foot bus struck and killed Dunn as she was about to reach the curb.
Prosecutors said Loggins was negligent for not seeing Dunn crossing the street.
