San Francisco Moves Residential Parking Permit Renewals Online
SAN FRANCISCO (KCBS) - It will soon be possible to renew San Francisco residential parking permits online, the city announced Wednesday.
Starting April 1, annual residential parking permits up for renewal can be processed over the Web or through the mail, said a spokesman for the San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency.
The $2.50 convenience fee the SFMTA charges for other online transactions such as paying parking tickets will also apply to parking permit renewals.
San Francisco charges $100 a year for residential parking permits. City officials said about 80,000 get issued every year.
The online payment program will roll out in stages as each parking area comes up for renewal, starting with parts of Cow Hollow and Noe Valley.
Specialty parking permits issued to businesses, contractors, teachers, medical personnel and other caregivers will not be part of the online renewal program.
