San Francisco Man's Quest For Holiday Date Goes Viral
SAN FRANCISCO (CBS 5) -- The holidays can be a lonely time for those who are single. A San Francisco single man's quest for a date this holiday season has received international attention.
The man, who did not want to reveal his identity, spoke to CBS 5 wearing a Santa suit.
He knows the perfect girl is a lofty request even for Santa, so he decided to post his desires on Craigslist. In his post, he didn't hold back and went into lengthy detail.
"Let me be clear, I want a girlfriend, but I don't really want a girlfriend. I just want one for the holidays," he said.
The man said he is used to being the single guy at parties, but he wants this year to be different.
"A lot of people don't like being alone on the holidays," he said. "I am kind of one of them."
He isn't expecting a story straight out of Hollywood. Like any romantic comedy, he expects the loves story to end. He made sure to include the expiration date on his posting, specifically 11:59 p.m. on January 2nd.
So far, almost 300 potential holiday girlfriends have applied.
"80-100 have been people from as far away as Australia," he said.
No holiday love connections yet, but he is optimistic and not totally opposed to continuing on the holiday cheer into the New Year.
"What happens happens," he said.
After all, Valentines Day is just around the corner from the holiday season.
The man is taking his requests beyond Craigslist. He is developing a Facebook page and Twitter account dedicated to finding him a holiday sweetheart.
