San Francisco Man Robbed At Gunpoint After Meeting Woman From Online Dating Site
SAN FRANCISCO (CBS SF) -- A man was robbed at gunpoint early Thursday morning in San Francisco's Bernal Heights neighborhood after arranging to meet a woman through an online dating service, a police spokesman said.
The victim, a man in his 30s, contacted a woman through the online site and met up with her around midnight in the first block of College Avenue, off of Mission Street, San Francisco police spokesman Officer Gordon Shyy said.
When the victim met up with the woman, believed to be in her 20s, two men in their 20s approached him with a gun and demanded his property, Shyy said.
The victim handed over his cellphone and wallet and the three suspects drove off in a black sedan, Shyy said.
Officers were notified about the robbery and tracked the suspect vehicle to the Bayview District, Shyy said.
The driver refused to stop and a chase ensued. The chase eventually ended when the driver crashed at Woolsey and University streets near McLaren Park, Shyy said.
No one was injured in the crash.
Five people, including a woman and two men thought to have taken part in the robbery, were in the car. All five were detained, Shyy said.
Details of who is being held in custody and on what charges were still being worked out Thursday morning, he said.
