San Francisco Man Killed While Walking Across Road In Newport Beach
NEWPORT BEACH (CBS SF) -- A San Francisco man died after being struck by a vehicle while walking across a roadway in Southern California late Saturday night, according to the Newport Beach Police Department.
Around 11:45 p.m. Saturday officers responded to the scene of a crash on MacArthur Boulevard near Von Karman Avenue in Newport Beach.
A pedestrian, later identified as 36-year-old Mohamad Ahmed Abdelwahhab, had been crossing MacArthur Boulevard outside of a crosswalk when he was struck by a Toyota Yaris. Abdelwahhab was pronounced dead at the scene, according to police.
The driver cooperated with investigators, who said that drugs and alcohol do not appear to be contributing factors in Saturday night's fatal crash.
