Twin Killings Cap Violent Weekend In San Francisco
SAN FRANCISCO (CBS/BCN) - Two killings in San Francisco on Sunday capped a violent weekend in which the city saw its first three homicides of the year, all in the Tenderloin neighborhood.
According to police spokesman Lt. Troy Dangerfield, a man was shot outside the New Century Theater, a strip club located at 816 Larkin St., at about 9:10 p.m.
The victim was identified Monday by the medical examiner's office as 41-year-old Charles Harrison, of San Francisco.
According to Dangerfield, Harrison had argued with another man in front of the club.
During the argument, the suspect walked away from Harrison, Harrison followed him and was shot twice in the torso, Dangerfield said.
The suspect, described only as a black man between 20 and 27 years of age, then fled. Harrison died a short time later at the hospital.
Earlier in the day at about 2:45 p.m., officers were called to the 1100 block of Market Street where a man allegedly stabbed his roommate, police said. The roommate died at the hospital just after 10 p.m.
Police arrested the man's roommate, who they said confessed to the stabbing. The man's name has not been released.
The medical examiner's office has not released the identity of the victim because they are still trying to contact his family.
On Saturday afternoon at about 3:20 p.m., a shooting occurred at Turk and Taylor streets.
The victim, 20-year-old Larry Lacy, was sitting with the suspect on the sidewalk when Lacy approached a woman walking by, police said.
The suspect then walked up behind Lacy and shot him three times and fled, police said. A motive is still under investigation.
Lacy, whose city of residence is not known, died at the hospital.
